The Story of Westlake / West Lake Hills
West Lake Hills incorporated in 1953 as residents sought to preserve the area's rolling, oak-studded terrain from annexation by Austin. Perched on the limestone bluffs above Lake Austin, the community became synonymous with premium real estate, top-ranked Eanes ISD schools, and a quiet, nature-forward lifestyle. The iconic Pennybacker Bridge (360 Bridge), completed in 1982, gave the area one of Central Texas's most photographed landmarks.
