Liberty Hill was founded in the 1850s by settlers who prized the area's natural springs, rolling grasslands, and proximity to the Gabriel River. Named for a local gathering spot under a liberty pole, the community maintained its ranching character for over 150 years. The construction of Ronald Reagan Boulevard (SH 29) connecting to I-35 and Toll 183A opened Liberty Hill to Austin commuters in the 2010s, triggering one of the most dramatic growth surges in Williamson County.
