Manor
East Austin's emerging frontier
Local Overview
The Story of Manor
Manor traces its origins to 1850 when James Manor established a post office and general store along the stagecoach route between Austin and Houston. The farming community thrived through the cotton era and remained a rural enclave well into the 2000s. The arrival of Tesla's Gigafactory and Samsung's chip fabrication plant in nearby east Travis County transformed Manor into one of the metro's hottest growth corridors. New master-planned communities like ShadowGlen, Manor Heights, and Presidential Meadows have brought thousands of families, while Manor ISD has invested heavily in new campuses and programs. The historic downtown — centered around Parsons Street — is seeing its first wave of restaurants and shops in decades.
