History & Character
The Story of Travis Heights / SoCo
Travis Heights was platted in 1913 on the bluffs above the Colorado River, designed as an aspirational residential neighborhood with curving streets that followed the natural terrain — a departure from Austin's typical grid. South Congress Avenue (SoCo) runs through its western edge and has become one of Austin's most iconic commercial streets, lined with vintage shops, food trailers, and live music venues. The "I Love You So Much" mural on Jo's Coffee became one of the city's most photographed walls. The neighborhood's canopy of live oaks, Craftsman bungalows, and proximity to Barton Springs and Lady Bird Lake make it one of Austin's most desirable and walkable urban neighborhoods.
Directly south of Lady Bird Lake — 5 min to downtown, 10 min to UT campus, 15 min to ABIA airport via I-35 or SH 71.
Creatives, professionals, and long-time Austinites who value walkability, local culture, and proximity to everything. Craftsman bungalows, modern infill, and condos along SoCo.
