The Story of Kyle

Kyle was founded in 1880 and named for Fergus Kyle, who donated land for the International-Great Northern Railroad depot. For decades, the town's most famous landmark was its water tower, visible for miles across the blackland prairie. In the 21st century, Kyle became one of America's fastest-growing cities, fueled by affordability and I-35 access. The Plum Creek master-planned community helped put Kyle on the map with its neo-traditional design, trail system, and community farm. Kyle's self-proclaimed title as the "Pie Capital of Texas" comes from the annual Kyle Pie in the Sky festival and the city's embrace of its quirky, small-town identity even as population growth accelerates.
